2013 Summer Employment Opportunities with WRIG

If  you are interested in field work and in spending your summer outdoors engaged in conservation and restoration activities in the Wheatley River and it’s sub-watersheds, then we invite you to apply for one of the following WRIG Field Crew positions ASAP!

** FIELD CREW SUPERVISOR **

Our Field Crew Supervisor will plan and oversee summer field project for WRIG, including remedial stream work, planting trees, water quality monitoring and riparian assessment work. The position also includes communicating with the public, writing reports and newsletter articles and helping to organize a community event.
The Field Supervisor is responsible for 2-3 crew members and at times for larger crews of students. The Field Supervisor will report to the WRIG Manager & The Board of Directors of the Wheatley River Improvement Group.
Qualifications: At least one year post-secondary education, preferably in the area of environmental sciences, biology, forestry, conservation or wildlife management. Applicants should be between the ages of 18 and 30, and have leadership experience and can demonstrate the capacity to work independently.

** FIELD CREW WORKER **

Qualifications: must be at least 30 years of age, demonstrate a strong interest in working outdoors and must be registered with the PEI Employment Development Agency, or willing to do so.
Duties: Participate in the summer field work for the Wheatley River Improvement Group including which may include remedial stream work, tree planting, water sampling, trail maintenance, building nest boxes and assisting with Riparian Health Assessments. The position also includes communicating with the public and helping to organize a community event.
