You are invited to participate in an open policy consultation on Island environmental issues. This consultation will take place on January 30, 2013 (storm date February 6) between 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. at the Civic Centre in Cornwall (29 Cornwall Rd.)
This first consultation will focus on watershed management and water quality issues.
The NDP PEI will be sponsoring a number of such policy consultations in the period leading up to the next provincial election in order to ensure NDP policy and platform commitments are well informed and relevant to the needs and aspirations of Islanders of all political views
This first consultation and those that follow will be open to all Islanders along with selected invitees with special knowledge and interest in the particular subject area of the consultation. Participants will be asked to respond to specific questions or issues by the consultation chair on behalf of the provincial NDP. There will be a published summary of discussions for each consultation, and a listing of any recommendations arising during the discussions. While the NDP may not adopt all recommendations it receives, as a minimum it will have the great benefit of knowing where Islanders with interests and knowledge stand on each consultation subject area.
The watershed consultation will be chaired by Ann Wheatley Ann will be joined by UPEI Biology Professor, Daryl Guignion, who will act as expert mentor for consultation participants.
