Environmental Fun Day 2013 – May 24th

Screen Shot 2013-03-13 at 3.00.54 PMOne hundred or so grade 5 & 6 budding environmentalists from 3 local elementary schools will join the WRIG and Hunter/Clyde watershed groups for the 4th Annual Environmental Fun Day when they visit this years new event location, the Garden’s of Hope at the PEI Preserve Company in New Glasgow.

With 6 bilingual presentation sites to visit, students will be busy and engaged with nature demonstrations and activities provided by this years EFD partners and volunteers; Gerald MacDougall and Jeff Hannam from Forest, Fish and Wildlife Division, Rob Reddin, formally from the The Sierra Club, Members of The Bedeque Bay Environmental Management Association, Jamie Stride of Island Falconry, Dr. David Gladstone, Shawn Hill from The PEI Salmon Federation and Mr. Gerry Blacquiere.

 

2011 Environmental Fun Day – A HUGE Success

One hundred and twenty grade 5 & 6 students from 3 local elementary schools visited Campbell’s Pond in New Glasgow on Friday, June 3rd, for our 2nd annual Watershed Environmental Fun Day.

With 6 bilingual presentation sites to visit, students were kept busy and engaged with nature through interesting displays and activities provided by this years EFD partners and volunteers;  The Wildlife & Forestry Divisions of the Dept. of Environment, Energy and Forestry,  The Sierra Club, The Bedeque Bay Environmental Management Association, Island Falconry, Island Nature Trust, The PEI Salmon Federation and the PEI Model Forest Network Partnership.

The Wheatley River Improvement Group and the Hunter-Clyde Watershed Group wishes to thank everyone who shared the day with us at Campbell’s Pond:  Allie & Chuck, Jon & Stephen, Jackie & Shannon, Gerald & Jamie, Sam & Quinton, Todd and Gerard, Jen, Beverly & Ashleigh and especially the amazing students and staff from L’école Saint Augustin, Central Queens Elementary and Gulfshore Consolidated.
