The 2020 River Duck Race held on August 15th was a great success! We actually sold out of duck tickets for (possibly?) the first time ever! It was a bit of a different year with the restrictions and we had to limit the gathering to 50 people. A big thank you to everyone who bought tickets in advance and who came out on Saturday to support WRIG. Tessa, Izzy, Sam and Kale, this year’s field crew, did an incredible job setting up the route, sending the ducks down river, scooping them up at the finish line, and collecting them all afterwards. This year’s winners were…
In 1st place: Courtney Horrocks
In 2nd place: Tammy Craig
In 3rd place: Holden Sheen
A HUGE THANK YOU TO ALL OUR GENEROUS SPONSORS!
We WILL be holding our annual duck race this year and we are excited to be able to gather together to celebrate the river and enjoy Rackham’s pond together! Mark your calendar, its scheduled for August 15th!
This year will be a little bit different as we will be honouring the mandated limits for persons gathering due to COVID19. As the date approaches we will provide more information however it may be held as a first come first served limited gathering according to the rules in place at the time.
All are welcome according to the limits so please stay tuned for details on how that will play out. We may live-stream the race as well or post a video with results after.
We will be allowing online purchases of ducks by way of Paypal. The monies go to support the cleanup and management of the Wheatley River watershed and sub-watersheds.
Ducks are $5 each. If you’d like to become a WRIG member or renew your membership – you can purchase 4 duck tickets for $20 which includes the membership fee!
STAY TUNED FOR MORE INFO!
