Connecting Seniors to Nature

Lunch & Learn Series

Introducing a series of presentations and workshops brought to you through a partnership with the Rustico Bay Seniors Club and funded through the federal New Horizons for Seniors program.

Holiday Wreath Making

Join us for our first Lunch & Learn event, where we will learn how to make a beautiful holiday wreath with local flower farmer and artist, Mary Ellen Hurley of Littlest Bloom. During this workshop, Mary Ellen will use locally sourced materials to demonstrate how to make a holiday wreath, which you will be able to take home with you!

Edible, Medicinal & Toxic plants

Join us for our second Lunch & Learn event, which will be a presentation on the edible, medicinal, and toxic plants of PEI with local biologist, naturalist and author, Kate MacQuarrie. This presentation will explore more than 30 species that can be found in your own backyard, or are common along public trails and greenspaces. Edible plants highlighted will include sweet, sour, salty, bitter, and spicy flavours, while others provide well-documented medicinal benefits.
